........  Best: Mantra (Paramus);

KinaraIndian; Edgewater; 880 River Rd; 22/17/$31; 201-313-0555; Excellent prepared dishes – better than the buffet; Dumpy outside but somewhat stylish interior; BYO a plus; Very authentic, not overly spicy- ask for hotter if you like that; Huge a la carte menu; Affordable pricing; Pretty much offer anything you can think of. Safe bet for reliable Indian fare.  Chicken Makhni; Buffet is $10 and daily.

BhojIndian; Elmwood Park; 430 Market St @ Caruth; 23/15/$32; 201-797-6800; This BYO Indian in a non-descript location has incredible food; Butter chicken, tikka masala, the Somosas, lamb curries- all great; Known for ultra friendly service for the genre; Weekend and weekday lunch buffet $11.95: 12:30-3:30pm; The service is outstanding and they go all out to create a pleasing meal.  Not a fancy place.

Tandoori Chef: Indian; Hackensack; 260D Main St; 21/15/$33; 201-457-1557; Try the chicken Tikki masala or Butter chicken; Goat curry available; Large assortment of vegetable entrees; Their Naan does stand out;  Have a daily Lunch buffet that is very inexpensive. Good sized portions and management makes a strong effort to impress.

Karma KafeIndian; Hoboken; 505 Washington @ 5th-6th St; 23/19/$28; 201-610-0900; One of the best Indian restaurants in Jersey; $9.99 all you can eat lunch buffet; Have a Taj beer and Tiki Masala; Very tasty, well spiced cuisine;  Seats 50; Great value. Large menu; Exotic flavors – they do a lot with the space they have. Very popular. Ample portions. Outdoor seating. Creative, endless menu – love it.
MantraIndian; Paramus; 275 Rt 4 W @ Forest; 24/22/$42; 201-342-8868; High end Indian; Stylish lounge feel; Chic, romantic setting; While expensive for the genre- the exotic selections are sure to please; Great bar scene; Not the usual endless Indian menu- more ‘Table’ like (hotspot in Manhattan). The Rogan Josh and Chicken Bakani are tops; Incredible $12 lunch buffet on weekends…. A steal. Top service.

Diwani: Indian; Ridgewood; 47 E Ridgewood Av; 22/17/$35; 201-445-6060; Fun new Indian with amazing curries. Bollywood movies playing on a flat screen entertains you. BYO; Weekend buffet 12-3pm; Place has improved after a poor start in 2013;  Give them a shot for lunch;  Giant menu with lots of curries and they are proud of their Tandoori dishes;

Kailash: Indian; Ridgewood; 22 Oak St @ Franklin; 21/16/$29; 201-251-9693; Known for excellent Naan and Chicken Tikki Masala; BYO; Lunch buffet available; Website is lacking – shows a somewhat limited menu – or perhaps their menu is indeed quite limited. Not yet been here but on the list to try. Fans of spicy food rave. Calming vibe.  Good service. Garlic Naan to die for.
