Tir Na NogIrish Pub; 39th @ 8th-9th Av: 18/20/M; Great bar food; Iffy Service; Tons of beer to choose from; Specials; MSG Give-aways & sponsors often there; Classic upscale Irish pub; Large age range.  Good spot for a sit-down pub meal; Packed for happy hour and pre-MSG games.      
 

Holland/ Dave’s Bar: Dive Bar. 532 9th Av @ 39th-40th; 20/10/I;Small, skinny bar decorated with everything you’d find on a Dive Bar scavenger hunt list; $4 drinks – made strong; Usually full of locals; Colorful set of characters; Enjoy an hour of real life. NJ Devils on here.

 

Lansdowne Road:  Irish Pub/ Sports Bar. 599 10th Av @ 43rd;  22/19/M; Off the chart good Sports Bar; Every day, all day – one 20 ounce draft & 1 bottle $4. Has 13 huge TVs; Great food; Have private parties here; Happy Hour.  Ice bar/ rail to keep drinks cold.  Great website.  Yankees fans. 

 

BXL Belgian Café: Pub. 125 W 43rd @ 6th Av- BWay; 18/16/M;  Known for excellent Belgian beer; Moulle & Frites; (Mussels and fries to the uneducated); Perfect Times Square lunch or after work spot. Great service and very fair prices.

 

Jimmy’s Corner: Pub / Dive Bar. 140 W. 44th @ B-Way- 6th: Awesome Juke. More laid back for the area. Great sports bar as well with a boxing focus; Almost tourist free; Time Square locals. Fun & friendly staff .Everything inexpensive. Cool memorabilia on walls; Real New York feel.
 

Long Room: Irish Pub. 120 W 44th @ BWay-6th Av; 23/21/M; 35 draft beers; 10 TVs; Working fireplace; Modeled after Dublin’s Trinity College; Gastropub with a truly excellent food menu;  Great after work hot-spot; One of the best bars in midtown; Large space with very long bar; Dublin feel makes it complete.  

 

Birdland: Jazz Bar. 315 W 44th @ 8th-9th Av; 24/18/E; Spacious Jazz dinner club featuring excellent Cajun food; Try for a seat at the bar for better service and faster drinks;  Very well reviewed. Music is top notch. Can pay extra for a better table up front. See website for upcoming shows.

 

Reunion Surf Bar: Dive Lounge. 357 44th @ 9th Av; Downstairs; 22/23/M; Surf décor; Fun mixed drinks; Best pre-theatre or happy hour; Island themed cocktails; EUROs accepted; Taco Tuesdays; Its casual, fun, and has good

food.  Reasonably priced;  Laid back surfer vibe. Replaced Kemia – a Moroccan lounge. 

 
Rudy’s Bar: Dive Bar.  927 9th Av @ 44th-45th; 24/12/I; Dive bar w/ character! Cheap pitchers- as cheap as $7; Fantastic juke. Free Hot Dogs. Crazy place; Mix of curious new comers & Drunken locals; A must see; Giant pig outside door.  Rock bottom prices. Been around forever; Bathrooms filthy. Remains popular. 
 
Mercury Bar: Sports Bar. 659 Ninth @ 45th; 20/19/M; Excellent number of flat screens; Large and tasty menu; Brunch menu; Singles scene;  Overall a good, solid bar; Young-ish;  Happy Hour 4-8pm;  Football Sundays. Great bar food; Actually a solid choice for a pure American sports bar. Better for day drinking. 
 
O’Lunney’sIrish Pub. 151 W 45th @ B-Way-6th. 18/17/M; Spacious place. After work/ show. Good for Times Square where you expect tourists; Good drink specials; Great décor and friendly staff. Perfect for a meal. Clean/ cool décor. Large menu. Gets packed before theatre, after a show and for happy hour. 
 

Pony Bar: Brew Pub. 637 10th Av @ 45th; 26/18/I; Draft beer heaven; See website for what’s on tap right now; $5 a beer – great craft selection; Large food menu; Incredibly well reviewed on Yelp; Best craft beer bar in the city; Can’t say enough about the place. If you love beer – you’ll love it here. 

 
Connolly’s: Irish Pub. 121 W 45th @ 6th Av – B-Way; 17/17/M; One of the best, most reliable and popular after work spots for Professional crowd; Two levels;  Private Parties; Good place to grab 2-3; late 20s to 30s crowd; Excellent food – can go for dinner.  Live music on weekends. Strong drinks. 
 
Perfect Pint: Irish Pub. 123 West 45th St @ 6th Av; 21/19/M; Multi-level pub known for excellent pub grub and a large assortment of TVs showcasing your favorite sporting events; Huge selection of draft beer along with bottled beer & about every liquor under the sun; Friendly, witty bartenders; Ideal mid-town pit stop. 
 
Playwright Tavern: Irish Pub. 732 8th Av @ 45-6th; 19/19/M; Not overly touristy for a Times Square bar; Two levels- tons of seating upstairs; Large pub menu of food- decent to good; $5 beer specials; Good pre-theatre spot. Happy Hour 10am-8pm: $4 Miller, Bud drafts. Best location of the chain. 
 
Deacon Brodie’sIrish Pub. 370 46th @ 9th Av; 22/15/M; Long, narrow Irish Pub; Super Friendly Bartenders – offering frequent buy-backs; Great Happy Hour spot and actually a good singles scene.  Traditional pub feel in this tourist popular area.  Completely reliable. 
 

Bourbon Street B&GSports Bar. 346 W 46th @ 8th-9th Av; 22/20/M; Very cool looking Bourbon St themed bar popular after work and into the night; Fun drinks like Hurricanes and  traditional New Orleans fare; Tons of specials such as $5 Hurricanes; Excellent website – check out menus. Singles scene & great to pre-game. 

 

St. Andrew’s: Scottish bar. 140 W 46th @ 6th- 7th Av;  22/20/E; Bar & Grill; Live music at times; Upscale pub with excellent grub; Great pre-theatre drink spot or after work/ show.  More upscale than most; Bartenders in kilts. Classy establishment. Endless Scotch selection; Amazing food with huge menu.  

 

O’Brien’s: Irish Pub. 134 W 46th @ 6th-7th Av; 17/18/M;  Huge midtown lunch spot and after work location; Daily happy hour 5-8pm with $5 well and $7 martinis;  Mixed service and food quality; Probably a better bet when not crowded during the day or on weekends

 

House of BrewsBrew Pub. 363 W 46th @ 8-9th; 19/15/M; Top beer selection- 80 Beers from 30 countries; Beer-lovers dream and decent pub fare as well; Friendly staff; Beer samplers;  Great for groups. Have a 96 oz beer funnel. Not as popular as it should be. Second location on 51st @ 8th-9th Av. 
 
Mean Fiddler: Irish Pub. 266 W 47th St @ 8th Av; 18/17/M; Large pub with live music at night; Huge bar area with endless flat screen TVs; Bar staff can be forgetful; Happy hour noon-8pm, $3,50 bottles; Good jukebox; Touristy bar near theatres. Very hit or miss. 
 

Rum House: Lounge. 228 W 47th @ B-Way - 8th; 23/18/E; Old school feel with mixologist bartenders; Cocktails amazing but pricey; Live music and open mic even; Great food; Piano every night; Try the Tortuga Rum cocktail. Attached to Edison Hotel; Older scene;  1930-40s feel. 

 

Langan’s: Irish Pub. 150 W 47th @ 6th-7th Av; 20/20/M; Irish pub known for a great lunch and after work crowd; Recently renovated; Excellent Irish food and world cuisine; Lots of tables; Upscale Irish pub setting comfortable for work friends or a casual dinner. 

 
Latitude BarBar/ Lounge; 783 8th Av @ 47-8th; 19/18/M; Singles scene; Popular 8th Av hotspot; DJs 4x a week; 3 levels inside including roof deck; 20 flat screens so great for sports; Very extensive, upscale bar menu. Website is excellent. Clean and more upscale though a bit pretentious. Private parties welcomed. 
 

48 Lounge: Lounge. 1221 6th Av @ 48th; Enter on 48th 6-7th Av; 25/25/E; High quality, stylish after work lounge; Full of Wall Street types enjoying Happy Hour after work; Sexy, friendly, professional staff; Excellent cocktails; Swanky feel; Networking going on all over; Decent food. 

 
Hurley’sIrish Pub. 248 West 48th @ 7th-8th; 17/15/M; Large, 3 levels and a terrace. Clean, good Irish Pub scene mixed with tourists. Cheap beer.  Gets packed on weekends.  Good food and a great selection near the theaters.  Sit Down dining available- large menu; Excellent beer selection.
 
Social Bar Grill & Lounge: Bar/ Lounge. 795 8th Av @ 48-49th; 19/16/M; 3 levels; Upscale Sports bar; Cheap drinks but lots of people; Outdoor deck & great singles scene. Major scene to meet & one of the coolest spots in the area. Sexy staff.  Must try on an evening out in Hell’s Kitchen. Same ownership as Latitude.  Happy hour: all day Sunday & Monday; noon-8pm rest of week (drinks $4-$5)
 
TonicUpscale Sports Bar; 727 7th Ave @ 48th-49th; 20/20/E; 3 levels, Excellent Food; Has large/ multiple TVs on each level; Lounge feel; Nice Irish bartenders; Little pricy for genre.  Very clean, cool looking and sharp; One of the best sports bars in the city; Very good food.  Happy hour 4-7pm; 
 
PerditionIrish Pub;  692 10th Ave @ 48-9th; 23/20/M; Super Happy Hour- 1pm-8pm; Live Jazz; Big spot; World Cup- Soccer friendly; Hospitable staff. Nice, clean bar. Food til 3am- excellent food; Great beer/ liquor selections. Pub feel. 15 person open bar packages – great for groups/ birthday.  20 oz pints; Lots of fun cocktails, martinis and margaritas. 
 
LilliesLounge. 249 W 49th @ Broadway-8th Av; 23/22/M;  Gorgeous interior and they have terrific food and seriously good drink specials for happy hour;  Appetizer special lets you pick 3 items; Victorian décor will give you plenty to look at; Gets crowded late on weekends – best for happy hour or to relax during weekend days.
 

Playwright: Irish Pub. 202 W 49th @ B-Way-7th Av; 19/19/E; Not overly touristy for a Times Square bar; Two levels- tons of seating upstairs; Large pub menu of food- decent to good; $5 beer specials; Good pre-theatre spot. More expensive than other locations. Nice after work crowd. 

 

Gossip: Irish Pub. 733 9th Av @ 49th-50th; 21/21/M; Clean, traditional Irish Pub featuring tasty burgers and solid pub grub; Happy hour 4-7pm; 13 flat screen TVs; Turkey Burger or Bangers & Mash – can’t go wrong. Nothing extraordinary, but always reliable. 

 
123 Burger Shot Beer: Sports Bar/ Pub. 738 10th Ave @ 50th; 15/12/I; Dollar mini burgers, $2 shots; $3 beers; The $5 wings are super good; Fries amazing- overall, good food, cheap drinks to watch a game. Meat market-ish. Dirt cheap and fun. Problems: 15% tip automatic on anything, shots small, service sucks. 
 

Hibernia: Irish Pub. 401 W 50th @ 9th-10th Av; 23/20/M; Incredible popular, small local Hell’s Kitchen watering hole; Great beer garden;  Steelers bar; TVs; Bar food solid – try French Onion Soup, wings and cheese fries; Owners/bartenders friendly to all.  

 
Johnny Utah's: Dive Bar. 25 W 51st @ 6th Av; downstairs; 20/19/M; Texas themed bar that features a mechanical bull; Bachelorette parties here often; Decent American BBQ and other food; Near Roch Center; Great website; Solid place for a birthday party or other event- good deals. 

Rosie O’Grady’sIrish Pub. 800 7th Ave @ 52nd; 19/19/E; 2 levels sit down restaurant & bar. Great after work or theatre place. Upscale lounge-bar downstairs, with very attractive furniture; Excellent Irish pub food; Meals/ happy hour/ pre or post theatre spot. Service is mixed as are the more ‘fancy’ food selections. 

 
Russian Vodka Room: Restaurant/Bar. 256 W 52nd @ B-Way-8th Av; 23/18/E; The draw here is the flavored Vodka but they are full strength. Also, Great Russian food. Suggest coming for Vodka & appetizers.  Martini heaven. Massive vodka menu
 
Bamboo 52: Lounge/ Restaurant; 344 52nd @ 8-9th Av; 21/19/M; Incredible happy hour place; Sushi bar with high end food; Sexy cliental and staff;  Great music and friendly place; Singles scene; Exotic drinks; Clean, fun and energetic. Perfect for after work groups.
 

Ardesia: Wine Bar. 510 W 52nd @ 10th-11th Av; 23/21/M; LA Style wine bar; Incredibly good food for a wine bar; Truly a hidden gem for wine lovers; Pre-dinner/ pre-theatre; Outdoor patio; Very solid service; Most glasses are $9-$12 – good for the genre; AND, a huge selection.

 

The Irish Pub: Irish Pub. 837 7th Av @ 53rd; 17/19/M; Beautiful from the outside; Inside – gets mobbed during happy hour;  Great pub food; Lots of TVs and it can be a pretty good sports bar; Friendly service; My issue with the place – no real happy hour. 

 
Bar NineDive Lounge. 807 9th Av @ 53-54th; 15/15/M; Multiple rooms going far back inside; Cool, alternative type of scene; Velvet sofas; Post-college scene, regulars and sports fans;  Basic comfort food; Chill scene; East Village type of bar on West side.  Live music; Happy hour 3-7pm- $10 pitchers.

 

Disiac LoungeLounge. 402 W. 54th @ 9th & 10th; 23/21/M;  Small, cute, not bad background music, little outside patio at the back. Kind of chill. Latin feel – but not a big place. Multicolored tables, cozy places to sit; Impress a date here; Friendly, caring staff. Sangria is amazing. Morocco themed. 
 
Valhalla: Pub. 815 9th Av @ 54th; 22/16/M;  Incredible craft beer selection in bottles and on tap; 40+ beers on tap; Beer connoisseurs;  Random specials including great lunch specials – any food item and a beer for $10; Adding to 9th Av’s already excellent craft beer pub lineup (see Pony Bar)

 

Three Monkeys: Sports Bar. 236 W 54th @ B-Way-8th Av; 22/20/M; Double decker sports bar in old Divine Bar space; 36 beers on tap; Lots of flat screens; Great escape from the local tourist bars; Craft beers available; Happy hour features $5 beer of the week;  Slightly pricy otherwise. Upscale after work scene.

 
FluteWine Bar. 205 W 54th @ B-Way-7th; 21/21/VE;  More of a champagne lounge as the name suggests; Trendy... lots of women frequent this place. Sexy feel and classy; Not cheap; Fancy, large selection of wine and champagne; Date spot; Sofas and comfort.  
 

Old Castle Pub: Irish Pub. 160 W 54th @ 6th-7th; 19/18/M; Great friendly pub to watch Irish sporting events including Hurling; Long bar, happy hour 12-2 and 5-7pm; 18 flat screen TVs; Brunch served Sat/Sun 8am-4pm.  Food, sports, and Guinness. 

 

Faces & Names: Bar & Grill. 159 W 54th @ 6-7th Av; 18/17/M; After work spot; Large space with tons of couches and cool places to hang; Sizable bar as well; Extensive food menu- perfect to start out the night or lunch; Private Parties; Ideal to meet people – especially a group. 

 

Barcelona Bar: Shot Bar. 923 8th Av @ 54th-55th; 21/13/M; Renowned for extremely friendly service; Huge selection of shots are there thing; Great for night of drunken sillyness; Monday night trivia night; Happy Hour: week days 4-7pm $3 beer, $4 well. 100+ shot menu.

 

Rumors Bar & GrillIrish Pub. 933 8th Av @ 55th;  19/18/M; Great sports bar with – Baseball & Soccer focus; Friendly bartenders; Excellent beer and happy hour specials. Nothing special, but a solid bar. Can be hit or miss and tourists abound. 
 
McGee’s Pub: Irish Pub. 240 W 55th @ B-Way-8th; 22/20/M; Upscale pub. 3 levels of fun; 16 HDTVs; Internet jukebox; All major sporting events of TV; Lunch and dinner served; Spacious as hell;  Happy hour specials including beer of the month- $4. Three rooms- very long bar. Brunch 11-4pm. Happy Hour 1-9pm daily. 
 

Ava Lounge: Lounge. 210 W 55th, 14th Fl @ B-Way-7th Av; 23/24/VE;  Located on Penthouse of Dream Hotel; Part Rome, part South Beach décor; Amazing panoramic rooftop views; Excellent pricy cocktails; They do have a happy hour – inquire – as that will save you a fortune.

 

Lincoln Park B&GSports Bar/ Dive. 867 9th Av @ 56-7th; 18/17/I; Quirky waitresses- say hi to Jacki; Cheap drinks; Sizable menu; Lots of TVs; and a cool cave-like setting make a great chill bar.  Monday = $3 drafts; Wed = $1 mugs Bud Lite; Thurs= Ladies nite. Inexpensive any night. Always have $3 PBR tall boys.  
 
DJ Reynolds: Irish Pub. 351 W 57th @ 8-9th Av;  16/17/M; Upscale scene with gourmet bar food; Solid after work option; 20 ounce pints; Standard set-up and ideal for lunch, daytime drinking or a casual dinner; Good place to meet up after Central Park. 
 

Above 6: Hotel Bar. 308 W 58th @ 8th-9th Av; Rooftop; 23/21/VE;  Hotel that’s home to Blue Ribbon Sushi B&G; Sibling of Above Allen in Lower East Side; Very date friendly and ideal for a pre-theatre or pre dinner drink.
