Standard Biergarten: Standard Hotel; 848 Washington @ Little W 12th- 13th; 22/19/E; Touristy hotspot; Great German beer and food; You purchase tickets for food and beer then choose what you want; In the summer – gets packed and long lines. Fun, unique experience though beer gardens in Brooklyn better. 

Art Bar: Lounge/Bar. 52 8th Av @ Jane; 19/18/M; East Village Feel; Restaurant as well; Good locals bar. Don’t miss the back room. Great lounge area. Full of vintage couches; Solid after work spot.  2 for 1 happy hour 4-7pm daily.  Very cool place to hang.  
Johnny’s Bar: Dive Bar. 90 Greenwich Ave @ 12th St- Jane; 17/15/I; Nothing fancy, just a small, ultra friendly bar that keeps the regulars returning; Great jukebox; Cheap Coors Light; Shot of the Day; Cute bartenders. Drinking man’s establishment. Rare dive bar in area.


Brass Monkey: Bar / Lounge. 55 Little W 12th @ Wash; 20/16/M; Like a trendy pub. Singles scene. Great pub grub & best for after work & happy hour. Intimate back room.  3 levels including rooftop. Packed on weekend nights. 
Tortilla Flats: Bar/ Restaurant. 767 Washington @ W 12th; 21/17/M; Mexican Food & Drinks; Margaritas; Bachelorette Party central. Wacky scene with gimmick nights. Drink specials during week; Cheesy décor. Always a good time. Great energy and solid in all areas. 

Entwine: Wine Bar. 765 Washington @ W 12th; 23/24/E;  Duplex setting that’s small overall but they have two bars and fun mismatched furniture; Garden as well;  The wine selection is decent and the food solid; Known for their grilled cheese; 5-7pm Happy Hour with $7 drinks is way to go. 

Spotted Pig: British Pub. 314 W 11th St @ Greenwich-Hudson; 23/21/E; Upscale pub- fairly pricy; Beer of all kinds on draft including cask conditioned; Gourmet level food tight seating; High-end wine; Snobbery is back!  Incredible burger. Sit down meal of grab a drink. Truly unique menu. 

Village Vanguard: Jazz Bar. 178 7th Av @ 11th St; 27/16/E; Considered by many reviewers the best Jazz bar in the city; Around since 1935; All the greats have played here; Amazing vibe though not a huge place; See website for the upcoming schedule of acts. Sets are at 9pm and 11pm nightly. $25 +1 drink min for a set. 


Highlands: Scottish. 150 W 10th @ Greenwich; 24/25/M; Bartenders are fantastic; Mixologists with single malt whiskey specialty; Amazing Gastropub atmosphere; Brick walls, well decorated; More of a sit-down place for a meal then a pure bar though plenty of room to drink. 


Employees Only: Lounge. 510 Hudson @ Christopher-10th; 23/20/E; Known for amazing mixologists; Cocktails are epic; Feel is that of the 1920s and 30s; They have lots of tables so you can sit and enjoy their seafood-centric menu as well. Cool experience. Well reviewed. 


Aria Wine Bar: Wine Bar. 117 Perry @ Greenwich-Hudson. Near W 11th; 22/21/E; Cozy atmosphere; Wood-tile décor; Warmly lit; Large selection of wine and cocktails; Small plates and tapas are available; Wine listed on huge chalkboard. Really cool looking inside. 


Otheroom: Wine Bar. 143 Perry @ Greenwich; 22/20/M; Great date spot – romantic with nooks in the back; Wine and beer specialist; More crowded and packed, with music, on weekend nights; Website is terrible; No liquor license; Best suited for a date or glass of wine before/after dinner. 


Lelabar: Wine Bar/ Lounge. 422 Hudson @ LeRoy; 24/21/E; Very fine wine bar; Delicious cheese & meat plates; Extensive wine list; Dim lighting and romantic; Sexy décor that is warm and friendly. $1 oysters; Go for happy hour as it is $$. Give it credit – perfect romantic yet ‘cool’ environment. Has wine tastings. Oval bar set-up.

Blind Tiger Ale House: Beer Pub. 281 Bleecker St @ 7th Av S; 23/18/M; One of the Best beer selections in city;  Highly suggested by multiple sites. Great food; Ideal after work or to warm up for a long night out.  Incredible selection of rare and vintage beers. #7 beer bar in country by Beer Advocate.  NYC Institution. 

Lederhosen: Beer Hall. 39 Grove @ Bleecker; 19/19/M; German place with 5 liter containers of beer and sausages for $58 for a group; Beer garden feel;  Old world German vibe; Hard to find beer selections;  Amazing schnitzel and sausages. Has Das Boot! Not a huge place but great prices.


Mr. Dennehy’s: Irish Pub. 63 Carmine @ 7th Av; 20/17/M; Ideal to watch rugby or soccer; Happy hour 4-8pm with decent deals; Can have private parties; Excellent pub food; Friendly barkeeps; Sticks to the Irish pub mold; Always a good time.


Little Branch: Lounge/ Jazz. 22 7th Ave @ Carmine-Leroy; 21/20/E; $12 cash only cocktails- expensive, but Amazing; Jazz infused ambiance; Sexy, relaxing vibe; Basically it is similar to a speakeasy; Professional bartenders mix top drinks. Setting reminds one of the 1920s; You’re here for the mixologists. 

Arthur’s Tavern: Jazz Bar. 57 Grove @ Bleecker – 7th Av; 23/15/E; Been around since 1937;  Packed with tourists and locals; Cash only unfortunately; No cover charge; Vintage jazz classics and Dixieland;  Daily shows at 7pm and 10pm as well 
Marie’s Crisis: Dive Bar. 59 Grove St @ 7th Ave; 24/13/M; Happy hour 4-9pm -$3-$5 drinks; Been around forever; Amazingly cheap; Piano/ Showtunes played all the time; Gay-friendly but welcoming to all; Fun times- almost  burlesque in style.  Just a happy scene.  Wildly popular, great energy. 
Duplex (The): Piano Bar/ Cabaret. 61 Christopher @ 7th Av; 20/14/M; Piano bar with open mic every night; Upstairs bar and an intimate cabaret theatre all in one venue; Friendly staff;  See website for details;  Sing-along crowd; Let loose. 
Fat Cat: Billiards / Jazz. 75 Christopher @ Bleecker – 7th Av; 24/18/M; Lower level has crazy cool pool hall area for $5 an hour; Live Jazz every night; After work hang-out;  Private party space;  Has Ping-Pong, Pool, Chess, Checkers, Scrabble, Backgammon tournaments and games in their gameroom; Huge place; Singles scene as well; Perfect for anything you want to do. 
Kettle of Fish: Beer Pub. 59 Christopher @ 7th Av – Waverly; 19/15/M; Down home, regular-friendly neighborhood bar; Green Bay Packers bar; Darts, pinball, Ms Pacman & a great Juke; Huge beer selection. The bar has a literary feel to it; Welcoming and friendly. 

55 Bar: Jazz Bar. 55 Christopher @ 6th-7th Av; 25/15/M; Super cool Jazz club; Dive feel to it; Around since 1919; Cheap covers for the genre; Cozy underground space. Really old feel to it – old school; Nothing fancy – just jazz and blues; 

Fiddlesticks: Irish Pub. 54 Greenwich @ 6th-7th; 20/15/M; Excellent, large Irish Pub. Classy place. Good beer. Attractive crowd. Singles scene that gets packed; 20s crowd; 4-8pm $3 beer wine, house drinks. Living room like décor; Sort of an Upper East Side vibe.  Brunch includes 2 Bloody Marys/ drinks.  
Down The Hatch: Dive Bar. 179 W 4th @ 6th-7th; 16/12/I; Dive Bar Classic. Can be packed. Basement bar. Amazing Wings. Cheap Beer;  Singles/ Drunks! College age crowd; Dirt cheap beer specials; Perfect to watch a game. Foosball. $20 unlimited beer & wings on weekends. See website for daily specials. Cheap!
Vol de Nuit: Belgian Beer Lounge. 148 W 4th @ 6th; 22/17/M; Dark setting; Multiple rooms; Sexy bartenders; Few sofas; Date or hang w/ friends in upscale beer setting.  Mysterious feel.  Mussels and fries excellent here. Very chill spot and old world charm.  Distinct Euro feel to the place. 
Barrow Street Ale House: Dive Bar/ Sports Bar. 15 Barrow @ 7th Av; 18/12/M; Darts, Pool, Video Games; Dirt cheap beer specials during day; NYU crowd; Casual and cool. Happy Hour noon-7pm daily, $3 drafts; Downstairs has pool. Wings 40 cents on Mondays. Tavern feel. 
Slaughtered Lamb Pub: British Pub. 182 W. 4th @ Jones;  18/16/M; Spacious for a pub; Friendly, welcoming spot;  Great brunch w/ 1 hour free drinks; Fireplace; Excellent Bar food- true British selections. After work spot.  Huge bottled beer selection featuring everything British. 
CENTRAL VILLAGE (6th Av to Broadway; Houston to 13th)

Fat Black Pussycat: Lounge. 130 W. 3rd @ MacDougal; 20/21/M; It’s a bar, lounge, dance club in one. 3 rooms; Large, great spot! Dance venue w/in called: “Village Underground” Very cool. Must discover the side room on the left– very cool! Singles, 20s-30s; Happy Hour 4-8pm;  Gets very crowded. 

Off the WagonCollege Bar. 109 MacDougal @ Bleecker; 18/15/I; Whole bar ½ price M-F 4-8pm.Darts, Foosball, Games, Pool; Two levels- nice balcony; Singles, pick-up scene; Decent food; Spacious place. Wed = ladies $2 drinks- anything; Monday 8pm to close = $1 drafts; Sat/ Sun- 12-8pm, half price, $5 pitchers; See Website- regain your youth! Insane daily specials listed clearly. 


La Lanterna Next Door: Wine Bar/ Jazz. 131 MacDougal @ 3rd St; 23/22/E; Wine bar connected to an Italian Restaurant; Romantic setting; After work, Sophisticated scene; 30s crowd; Higher end yet affordable. Gorgeous outdoor patio in back.  Fireplace, cozy. Italian nibbles.   

1849College Bar. 183 Bleecker @ MacDougal-Sullivan; 21/18/M;  Great internet jukebox; Spacious bar area; 15+ large plasma TVs; Pool tables; Midwestern décor- Wild West scene; Amazing happy hour specials that differ every day; Good bar food. Tribute to the Gold Rush. Cool look to the place. 

Shade: Bar / Creperie. 241 Sullivan @ W 3rd; 24/17/M; Perfect for a first date or a date in general. Delicious Crepes; Ideal to nurse a glass of wine; People watching and relaxation; Bartenders are friendly and helpful; Great idea/concept for a bar in NYU-dominated area. 


Triona’s: Irish Pub. 237 Sullivan @ W 3rd; 20/18/M; NYU Law students flock to this Irish sports bar; $10 pitchers noon -7pm and other daily specials; TVs keep people entertained; Lots of activities including darts, pool and other games; 


Amity Hall: Beer Bar. 80 W 3rd @ Thompson; 22/21/M; Daily specials; From owners of Stout, St Andrews and Half Pint; 40 craft beers available; $4 happy hour til 7pm daily; Frat feel but lots of fun and in a great location; Great for a private party; 2 levels; Excellent website. 


Half Pint: Irish Pub. 76 W 3rd @ Thompson; 23/19/M; Extensive, ever-changing beer list; 25 beers on tap, 100 in bottles; Less pretentious then other bars in area; Pub food excellent; Brick wall, wood mahogany interior; Part of a great ownership group; (Maggies, St Andrews); Brunch served; Guinness poured perfectly. 

Village LanternCollege/ Neighborhood bar. 167 Bleecker @ Thompson; 17/15/M; Two levels- Downstairs lounge;   $3 pints 12-7pm daily; Live Jazz Sun-Tues; DJ rest of the week; Stylish- drink, eat, music; Comedy club some nights;  Photo Booth; Mac N Cheese outstanding. 

Bitter End: Rock Music. 147 Bleecker @ LaGuardia; 20/14/M;  City’s oldest Rock venue; Small in size- intimate; Not as popular as it once was; Website has their schedule; Pre-game next door at the Peculiar Pub. 

Peculiar PubCollege Bar. 145 Bleecker @ LaGuardia; 23/15/M; 350 bottled beers;  27 beers on draft; Large space. One of the better Bleecker St bars. College crowd; Major singles scene; Popular place to drink heavily. Friendly service and truly a beer drinker’s heaven. Most bottles $4-$6 with some specials.  
Bleecker St Bar: Sports Bar. 56 Bleecker @ Crosby; 17/13/M;  Noon-8pm Happy Hour every day - $4.50 23 ounce drafts; Tons of TVs; Lots of pool tables; 3 Dart boards; Clean and cool setting; Excellent bar to relax or party hard at night. Good Juke. Mid 20s-30s.
Temple BarIrish Pub/ Lounge. 332 Layfayette @ Bleecker; 23/24/E; Long, cool Mahogany bar; Stylish interior; Sleek; Good date spot; Singles scene; Lounge feel; Must check out. Martinis are great; Relaxing & Romantic; late 20s-30s;  Truly a cool looking place; Tons of Old school house cocktails; Closed Sunday.
